YouTube Music is a music streaming website and app available for iOS and Android. It is YouTube's app and website for music and music videos. The app is free but contains ads, but there is an advertisement-free version with more features through YouTube Red for a monthly fee.
At the moment, the app is only available in United States, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea.

History
YouTube Music was launched on November 12, 2015. YouTube Music should not be confused with YouTube Music Key, a service that launched in beta in 2015 and came out of beta in September 2015. In October 2015, during Google's launch of YouTube Red (its paid per month ad-free service), the company first revealed YouTube Music. The app and website received widespread criticism by the public because it was first reported to be a paid purchase for the app. Then it was revealed it would be free but contain ads. There is an ad-free option in YouTube Red for a monthly fee.

Features
The app allows users to listen to all music oriented videos on YouTube. The availability of music includes many of the releases from mainstream artists and extends to any video categorized as music on the YouTube service. Songs released through partnered record labels, primarily through Vevo, play alongside their officially released videos (if it exists), and YouTube Red subscribers are able to switch back and forth between video and an audio-only mode that can play in the background while the application is not in use.
